Best Operational Technology (OT) Incident Response Firms 2026: Ranked by What's Documented, Not Claimed
Search for OT security companies and you get two bad options. Vendor listicles rank whoever pays them. Vendor blogs rank themselves. The OT market deserves better, because a wrong pick costs production hours. This page lists the OT incident response firms we could verify from their own published services. It puts them in the order the evidence supports. Where the evidence is thin, it says so.
Key takeaways
- One rule drives the ranking: what each firm says about incident response on its own site. A dedicated incident response practice ranks highest. An IR service line ranks next. OT security services with no IR claim rank last. We checked every entry in October 2026.
- **Four of the thirteen listed OT (operational technology) firms document IR capability today.** Dragos and Red Trident publish dedicated IR practices. admeritia and OTIFYD publish IR among their service lines. The other nine document OT security work but make no IR claim. We rank what exists. The gaps are stated as gaps.
- **Carrier panels do not cover this market.** Cyber insurers publish DFIR rosters. They do not publish OT-specific ones. So the panel evidence that ranks cloud IR firms does not exist here. Any OT ranking built on panel data would be invented.
- Products are not firms. Nozomi, Claroty, and the other OT platforms are not responders. They are not in this ranking. They are listed separately on the ecosystem page.
- The right firm for you may not be first below. Fit matters more than evidence depth. Your environment, your regulatory clock, and your response need decide. The choosing guide shows how to test fit.
What we ranked by, and what we refused to rank by
The dataset: the published service pages of the thirteen OT and ICS incident response firms in the OT/ICS directory. We read each firm's own website in October 2026. Three levels of evidence:
- A dedicated incident response practice. It has its own pages, retainer terms, or an emergency contact path.
- IR or digital forensics listed among the firm's published services.
- OT security services documented (assessments, compliance, engineering) with no IR offering published.
What we did not rank by: awards, marketing claims, headcount, revenue, or our opinion. We did not rank "quality" or "outcomes" either. None of that is documented anywhere in this market's public record. Inventing a score would be the exact sin the vendor listicles commit.
The OT firms, by documented evidence

Nine firms in the third tier is not a criticism. Documenting OT assessment and compliance work without publishing an IR practice is an honest position. Several of these firms support incident response in other ways. But a buyer who needs a firm that answers the 2 AM call deserves to know who publishes that capability and who does not.
What this ranking cannot tell you
Three gaps, stated plainly.
Fit for your environment. A firm strong in electric utility compliance may be wrong for a chemical plant. It may be wrong for a pipeline under TSA directives. It may be wrong for a food plant with one overworked controls engineer. The directory splits OT and ICS responders by region. The regulatory clocks differ. The compliance checklist maps NERC CIP, TSA, and IEC 62443 to what each demands of your response arrangements.
Response time. No firm in this market publishes OT response SLAs we could verify. A firm can document a 24/7 IR practice and still take a day to reach a rural site. Ask for the mobilization commitment in writing. Include onsite travel terms. The choosing guide shows what to demand.
Certifications. Few OT firms publish named holders of the ICS certifications (GICSP, GRID) in checkable form. Where a firm claims certified staff, ask which named people hold which certificates. Let the claims be checked. A firm that has never been checked has usually never been checked.
How to turn this list into a shortlist
- Decide whether you need response or assessment first. Many plants need an assessment and a segmentation plan before they need a retainer. The third tier above lists firms that document exactly that work.
- Ask every firm the same structured questions. The OT/ICS RFP asks them in comparable form: regulatory regimes, geography, asset types, Purdue model levels, SLA tiers, and what project work is included.
- Require the evidence deliverables. Whatever responds in your environment, the evidence your insurer and regulator want is the same: chain of custody, cited timelines, preserved logs. What to require is documented here.
Frequently asked questions
Who are the best OT incident response firms in 2026? By documented evidence: Dragos and Red Trident publish dedicated IR practices. admeritia and OTIFYD publish incident response among their service lines. That is what is verifiable as of October 2026. It measures documentation depth. It is not a quality score.
Is Dragos the best OT security company? Dragos documents the deepest IR practice we could verify in this market. It publishes retainer terms and around-the-clock OT responders. Whether it is right for you depends on your environment, geography, and terms. The firm that fits a regulated pipeline is not automatically right for a two-site manufacturer.
Why does this list have only thirteen firms? Because it lists responders whose OT and ICS work we could document from public sources. This market is smaller and more opaque than cloud IR. The cloud directory documents over fifty firms with carrier panel evidence. OT has no equivalent published record. Firms we have not evaluated can submit through the inclusion process.
What about SCADA security assessments? Assessment is a different engagement from response. Many firms document assessments without response. The third tier above lists firms that document exactly that work. If an assessment is what you need, the compliance checklist is the place to start. If a retainer is what you need, start at the first tier.
Every capability statement in this ranking comes from the firm's own published service pages, last read October 2026. We rank by documentation, not quality. Where a firm publishes no incident response offering, that is recorded, not judged. Last verified: October 2026. Have a correction or an addition? Request inclusion or a correction →

Best Incident Response Companies 2026: Ranked by What's Documented, Not What's Claimed
Search for the best incident response companies and you get two things. Vendor blogs that rank themselves first. And listicles that rank by adjectives. Neither survives contact with a real incident. What survives is evidence: which firms carriers' claims teams keep re-hiring, what the firms document about their own capability, and how their claims check out. This page ranks the market's most-documented IR firms. It tells you exactly what the ranking can and cannot say.
Coalition vs Chubb Cyber Insurance: What Their Published Vendor Panels Actually Show
Both carriers publish lists of the firms they trust for incident response. The two lists are built very differently. This piece uses their own published data. We show what we checked and when.
